Spring Has Sprung … Time to Get In Gear !

Spring – a wonderful time of year for those who enjoy the constant sound of lawn mowers.
Not that I’m complaining … except about those with nothing better to do but mow their grass nubs every two days like clockwork.
Don’t laugh –
there are lots of shirtless and shoeless folks who do.
It’s interesting to watch a man with an oxygen tank take a break from mowing to have a smoke.
They diligently grind away with their yard machines. Spewing dust, exhaust, pollen spores, and more into the air they breath despite all the pollen in the air and the fact that Nashville is the city that comes in 2nd for upper respiratory infections.
I remember how my Grandad’s main activity was manual yard work. But he purposely used manual tools even as more and more motorized yard contraptions came on the market. That was his workout. He lived to 96. According to a doctor friend who puts in extra hours in the ER on the weekends, it is common for people to drop dead in their yard on the weekends trying to impress the neighbors. This is common for those who work all week in an office or other sedentary job and suddenly do yard work on the weekend.
All I can say is … thank goodness for workout DVDs ;-)

A quick note of how the movie release is going:
“Submariners: The Men of the Silent Service” is causing quite a stir!
We are now receiving fan letters for Submarine Veterans. I especially enjoyed the one about after playing their weekly poker get together, kicking back with cocktails and watching the movie again with a room full of rowdy SubVets …
We received inquiry from the USS Bowfin memorial which is at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii about acquiring the submarine movie to carry there. A few weeks ago it was the National Submarine Force Library and Museum where the USS Nautilus rests.
It’s a real pleasure keeping up with all this.
I now completely understand why the term “release” is applied to movies. Movies are definitely “released” to the public just as the term “release the hounds!” …
