He Left the Earth from a Bridge
.
I understand that Tony Scott jumped from a bridge earlier in Los Angeles.
Such a successful film director. And only 68.
It’s always difficult to understand when someone takes their own life – especially a life that seems so very successful from the outside. Who ever really fully knows what goes on inside another person?
I do know he was very good friends with acid king Timothy Leary – and was executor of his estate and will when Leary died. Tony Scott supposedly kept Timothy Leary’s cremated ashes in his bathroom.
Tony Scott had hip replacement surgery – and had the bone preserved and mounted by a taxidermist and it hung on a wall in his home.
That doesn’t sound all that strange – once in L.A. I mentioned to members of a semi-famous Heavy Metal band that when I go it would be cool to donate some bone to a guitar builder to use them as dot inlays and headstock inlays in a custom guitar – That creeped the Heavy Metal guys out – which I thought they’d thought it cool. I thought it would be a great way to hang around a while.
I don’t know of any brothers who made so many great movies – I speak of Tony Scott’s brother, Ridley Scott …
I hope Ridley Scott will find peace in this tragic news.
I understand there was another brother who was a Ship’s Captain but passed away some time ago.
He seemed to love a certain faded baseball cap. It shows up in a lot of photos of him over the years.
Was it a “lucky cap” ?
Some folks wear certain articles of clothes like Peanut’s Linus kept his blanket.
Me ? A “security blanket ? I guess the closest to that is a small pocket knife my grandad carried every day since the 1940s and passed to me.
And on this same day is the 35th anniversary of Groucho Marx leaving the planet.
I mentioned this earlier upon the 35th anniversary a few days ago of Elvis leaving the planet 35 years ago … which overshadowed Groucho’s exit back then.
It’s better to remember birthdays.
.
PS – watch out for store bought romaine lettuce and cantelopes this week …
… as well as mosquitoes in Dallas …
