I lived through the Jupiter Effect in 1982 …

I lived through Y2K …

I lived through the end of the world as determined by Family Radio in 2011 …

But now it’s REALLY going to get us in December 2012 !!! The Mayans said so !

Put the fires out today that our modern “Nero” has set – tomorrow will come soon enough !

I will never forget a situation when I was a guest on a national talk radio show back in 1998 as a technology expert to talk about the Internet.

The host asked me out of the blue about “this Y2K situation”.

I explained what it really was and that it was just basically a two digit year problem with software and any sensationalism was mainly people trying to scare people into buying their books.

The host immediately went to commercial break and explained to me off air that the next show’s guest has written a book about Y2K and how planes would fall from the sky and toilets would not flush, etc …

I was even sent a copy of the book to “set me straight”.

In late 2000 I saw that very book in the 99 cent bin at a book store. i still have the copy of it sent to me (autographed by the author) as a momento to those who would cry wolf in order to make a buck.

There is plenty to be concerned about – and plenty to discuss …

… but do not be distracted by the snake oil salesmen out there !
