Are we the Modern Roman Republic turning into the Modern Roman Empire ?
…
I send out this plea to those gifted in sharing
the truth of our Constitution and Liberty
I first voiced my opinion that the United States was “the modern Roman Republic turning into a modern Roman Empire” in my high school days in a paper turned in for a creative writing assignment in a class.
I equated the television with their 5th century coliseum – which I still believe …
When we each had to read our essays before the class, I do remember getting some giggles and eyes rolling from fellow classmates. I did receive a good grade for the essay with a bit of after class debate from the teacher.
I was doing some research of writings by a British historian named Thomas Macaulay who passed from this earth on the eve of our “War Between The States”.
What I read made my blood run cold at that time.
Here is what Macaulay predicted in 1857 writing about what the United States would experience in the 20th century:
“The day will come when [in the United States] a multitude of people will choose the legislature. Is it possible to doubt what sort of legislature will be chosen?
On the one side is a statesman preaching patience, respect for rights, strict observance of public faith.
On the other is a demagogue ranting about the tyranny of capitalism and usurers and asking why anybody should be permitted to drink champagne and to ride in a carriage while thousands of honest people are in want of necessaries.
Which of the candidates is likely to be preferred by a workman?…
When society has entered on this downward progress, either civilization or liberty must perish.
Either some Caesar or Napoleon will seize the reins of government with a strong hand, or your Republic will be as fearfully plundered and laid waste by barbarians in the 20th century as the Roman empire in the fifth; with this difference, that the Huns and Vandals who ravaged the Roman empire came from without, and that your Huns and Vandals will have been engendered within your country, by your own institutions.”
My blood still runs cold when I read that passage – because we are living in this insightful yet frightening prediction now for decades !!!
That first line in Macaulay’s 1857 prediction has been fulfilled by the ratification of the 17th amendment where the Senate is now chosen by popular vote rather than their own state legislatures.
And we are being plundered.
We also have the “ruling class” mentality attempting to seize power and rule over the individual American.
This means those who believe and understand the Constitution must share this truth with as many as possible in a way that is understandable and acceptable to those fooled into the empty promises of those self appointed ones who hold to the concept of a ruling class.

We need more people made of iron rather than professional politicians with glass jaws filled with hot air who appeal to the gutter and the least common denominator.
Speaking of people made of iron and who is also British like Macaulay …
An example of someone who can stand up against the lies of the disingenuous politicians –
