Goodnight Celeste and Kitty
I am deep into this marine biology project …
… and time flies when I’m “cutting film” (*wink*wink*) in post-production.
I don’t get much time to post on the blog – it’s really for my own amusement anyway – and I don’t want my blog to seem like all I post is the passing of someone … but i had to take a moment for two great ladies of the entertainment world who lived long, did much and passed from us this week.
Celeste Holm disproved the myth that an actress has only a narrow window of “youth” to have a career. She continued across 60 years appearing in major movies.
Many know her best in “All About Eve” – but I believe she was the best Aunt Polly ever in the 70’s version of Tom Sawyer …
Movies are a time capsule – as well as recorded music.
I met Kitty Wells personally a few times in my course of work. She didn’t have that common vanity a lot of singers have around Nashville. She always seemed gracious with a sense of strength.
The funeral is Friday here in Hendersonville. I know there will be a lot of folks there.
Take care of yourself – you have a good chance to live to be in your nineties and wish you had !
It’s wonderful to know she, as well as Celeste Holm led a long and fruitful life.
.
I also made a promise to myself to refrain from posting about today’s political scene – but I can’t seem to help myself …
… especially when Chip Bok sends me some of his great cartoons of his that are so humorous, topical and poignant all at the same time –
