Dreams VS Realities

| September 26, 2012

When I am in post-production on a project something happens. Time, reality, light, dreams, sound and story seem to all blur together.

What quantity of
dreams are reality ?

What quantity of
reality are dreams ?

~

I heard from an antiquities expert that the 1950s are very much the hot era right now in that field of interest to the public.

Then …

I saw a new music video that is your basic MTVish music video which is basically set the band up to “perform” (lip-sync) the song and film it from several angles and then have totally unrelated stock footage inter-cut with the band footage.

The band was one of those 90s “modern rock” groups still hanging in there after becoming middle aged adults and making a living over a decade into the 21st century.

However – the footage was certain ethnic type youths with big “boom-boxes” doing break dancing in slow motion with a brick background spray painted with stereotypical graffiti … I kid you not – a band that was considered a “modern rock” band in the 90s doing a retro looking 80s style video over a decade into the 21st century.

This means either –

1) I am completely correct on my theories about historical cycles blending with popular culture cycles and I can predict future trends accurately.

2) The bank of ideas is bankrupt – no one out there can come up with anything new

3) All of the above

Maybe I should personify my theories into a brand name … something really long with the word “convergence” thrown in the middle somewhere.
