Stop MISUSING the word “CHANGE” ~ Please !

| September 4, 2012

The English language is a mishmash of an evolving form of communication.

Using the term “mishmash” is a great example. There are many words adopted from other languages and cultures that we use every day.

That said –

Words mean things.

If you control words, communication can be controlled. As an extension, once communication is controlled it is simple to control a people, their cultures and even their nations. Most certainly their habits.

That said –

The following is some things said by someone who is better known as I am ~

Political language … is designed to make lies sound truthful.”

“Political chaos is connected with the decay of language… one can probably bring about some improvement by starting at the verbal end.”

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”

“We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.”

– George Orwell ~ author

Consider this – if your house plants experience “change”, what does that mean? They could be growing or dying … if they are growing, they are healthy. If your growing houseplants have a change – they are dying.

You want your house plants to GROW – not CHANGE …

“GROW” should be what is used. Growth is a positive word.

“CHANGE” has been used in a political way for some time now – in heavy use since the 1990s by a particular group. It is being used very heavily over the last four years or so.

“CHANGE” is a word of neutral meaning – but leans toward the negative.

However, “CHANGE” has underwent a metamorphosis to mean something positive …

… or has it?

It is one of those meaningless advertizing words … like “best” or “helps” or the like.

If someone promises “change” and the result is a negative – there is no blame as the promise was meaningless as per the meaning of the word used.

Think about how “CHANGE” is used in our language –

“There is a change in the weather coming.”

“Honey, you changed. Your not the man I fell in love with anymore.”

“Is there a place where I can change my baby’s diaper?”

“Where can I change clothes in this gymnasium?”

I could go on and on. But I hope you are getting the picture.

If someone promises you change –

… and you go along with it – and the results are not as promised – or different than you imagined – or horrendous – or benign – or unpleasant – or even disastrous

Who is really to blame?

YOU ARE !

The one doing the promise has plausible deniability because what was promised was exactly what was delivered ~ CHANGE.

There is a knock at your door. You open up to find an ex-flame standing there with a box of candy and a rose in the other hand.

“Please honey, I’ve changed. It will be different this time. Give me one more chance.”

Just shut the door and don’t get fooled again.

Leave “CHANGE” to the weathermen on the local news channel.
