Welcome to the Freak Show ~ with Informercials

What happened to Television ?

There is no better inspiring story than that of someone who overcomes adversity to achieve success and/or greatness in life.

Stories of real characters who rise up with nothing more than their own sweat and a bit of opportunity to make their lives better.

In 1973, “The Waltons” was a surprise success to the networks. Why was it so surprising in 1973 ?

Where are those kind of stories now on television ?

All I can find now is freak shows.

A channel that is named for LEARNING but has nothing but freak shows.

A channel named after HISTORY with shows about UFOs and BIG FOOT … UFOs are HISTORY ?!?

A channel that was famous for MUSIC VIDEOS that has no music videos anymore.

News reports are more about what MIGHT happen rather than what actually did happen.

All the other channels seem to have followed suit.

There is nothing to do but flip channels hoping for a good infomercial selling something I don’t need like rubber in a spray can or overpriced testosterone boosters.

All I can find while flipping around is people living under their own hoarded filth, huge mothers living out some kind of distorted princess fantasy, red neck families in Georgia that spend most of their time breaking wind and talking about flatulence.

It seems to be in vogue to show others making a living off of other people’s misery and loss.

Where is the arts and entertainment on Arts & Entertainment channel ?!?

Storage unit auctions – pawn shops – repossessions …

People yelling and cursing
at each other.

Dog-eat-dog contests with everything from singers to cooking … everyone hates each other – more screaming … this is what they call “real drama”

An ugly British restaurateur screaming vulgarities at restaurant owners in order to “help them” from going out of business … all while showing dead rats and putrid food in the kitchens …

And what happened to “Planet Green” channel? It started out with tree huggers and solar panels and then all of a sudden it was BIG FOOT and UFO “documentaries”.

Now it’s gone …

Thanks God for DVDs.

Classic TV on DVD …

Where is Lassie and Timmy to be found ?

On DVD … Where the good stuff is these days.

Well – there’s always TCM !

Modern television programming is a rush
to find the least common denominator.
