The LA / Hollywood Production Depression Season

Right now – as TV shows aren’t in production this time of year …

… this is known as the season of unemployment for production out there.

Used to be – production folks would simply grab up work on movie production during the TV “off season”.

However …

According to folks I know out there who think I’m nuts for living out of Nashville, there isn’t any movie work to speak of in Hollywood / LA anymore because the govt permits and fees are just too preventative to do so.

Most movie production (the actual filming) is done elsewhere. Canada / Prague / etc …

I’ve got a great idea fellas – since you’ve got nothing going on right now – it’s a good time to check out the many places where you can get production work and live a lot better and cheaper at the same time.

Check out Dallas and Austin, Texas … even check out the Nashville area …

The saying for the last couple of years downtown is “You’re so Nashville, you’re from LA !”

Lots of refugees have been flooding in from LA / Hollywood / California as well as NYC / NY etc …

One word of caution: The native folks here are OVERLY COURTEOUS in their driving. The more “yankee minded” transplants are OVERLY AGGRESSIVE in their driving. It’s been a real clash out there on the roads in the past few years.

One word of advice: Don’t come to Nashville thinking it’s just a bunch of hayseeds around here. That’s a good way to get eaten alive.
