Moments In Time

| April 16, 2012

I’ve been working on the new audio project based on a very comical and heartful true diary of a ten year old boy from a rural town of the year 1868 …

Last year when I finished the submariner movie, I really wanted to adapt this real diary from post civil war times to an audio performance.

I was perplexed on how and who to play “the boy” …

… it had to be real and an honest performance …

I had no idea at the time that the perfect actor was right under my nose !

It took a lot of direction – and long hours of tracking … that said … what an amazing and honest performance …

This project is turning out extremely funny and full of heart … the music interludes are just perfect.

I can’t wait to turn this project loose on the public this summer …

Recording is merely capturing a moment in time … even an overdubbed and produced song is that way.

Just like hearing a hit tune from back in the day – it’s a time machine.

People don’t buy music – they buy a feeling.

I wax shy in using the term “buy” – but that’s what it’s all about. If it weren’t for making a living, the music would be amateur and just garbage like it is today. It takes a lot of hard work, genius and skill to put out good music to be enjoyed – especially the music that is timeless.

Today – music like once was is over. Kids are into alternative worlds. Get used to it. It’s all about video games. Reality does not exist. Thus explains why the manipulators gained a foothold – but are being thwarted by the mature of us.

Perhaps quality music will come back around – but face it folks … going into a record store and flipping through large amounts of fresh, hit music is over … BEEN over for a while.

I pity today’s 12 year olds not having the emotional thrill of having only 75 cents in your pocket and have to decide between a ’45 of “ABC” by the Jacksons or the ’45 of “Hey Big Brother” by Rare Earth …

It refreshes me to be creating worlds of wonder with my daughter that will live on into future generations.

I first resisted getting her involved – but her talent and desire made it happen. She may be a famous cartoonist or whatever in the distant future – but I do know the world will never be the same with her in it.

Every second in life is fleeting … make each one count.
