Post Production is the most fun these days

Post production used to be the worst, tedious job anywhere …
In the early days of film, women were film editors. Because in the studio system, editing was considered the same as sewing. And sewing was “women’s work”.
During production, they had a script which told what shots to get – and it was very formulaic … wide master … then medium to bring in the view … then close of the dialof back and forth … then as the scene ends, bring out to a medium and back to master … scene done …
How boring …
NOW – post-production is the king … the most grueling is production … actual shooting …
POST is the fun stuff !!!
So I am in the middle of post on this “real boy” audio project … it’s so much fun !
I laid down the intro and outro parts earlier … BOOOORRRRIIINNGGGG !!!!! But necessary …
I DO enjoy production – laying stuff down … on audio or visual …
The comes the mastering … THAT’s REALLY the boring part … but the master mix is like icing on the cake!
Anyway …
I’m having a blast now … icing the cake …
… but I hate FINISHING …
Not that finishing is bad … it’s just I love the process of making … having a finished product is great … but the making is the best … all that sweat and blood … suffering over what to cut … loosing scenes because the format only allows so much … it’s fantastic !!! Better than a Kobe steak …
Anyway …
So I get a diet of beef jerky, wasabi coated baked peas and roasted cashews as I work …
I was told by a engineer friend that worked several projects with Mutt Lange – that he “grazes” on chunks of fruit for days on end.
OK for you Mutt … gimme JERKY !!!! hahahah …
Anyway …
The “real boy” project will be done this week … it’s REALLY cool ! … and New Life Digital is doing the discs for the Submariner movie that’s going out to Pearl Harbor and the Submarine Force Museum and all the others … so it’s going well …
Back to it … just taking a break …
