Happy Birthday Aunt Pitty-Pat

Laura Hope Crews – a magnificent actress who played many unforgettable supporting roles in movies of the 1930s.

Primarily a character actor – she came from a family of actors and people involved in the theatrical arts.

Quite the looker when young and on the stage live before motion pictures. I wonder what her film career would have been if she was born around 1910 or so. She wouldn’t have been Aunt Pitty-Pat in Gone With The Wind … would she?

Character actors are the glue that holds a story together.

Leading men and women come and go like a flavor of the month.

But the character actor is forever.
