Tex Avery and the Cars Of Tomorrow
Using the current trends of the late 1950s and very early 1960s, Animation Director Tex Avery gives his vision of what cars would be like in the near future …
Tex Avery is my favorite Animation Director of all time.
He’s the one who gave the world of pop animation many gimics such as the “aa-oo-gah” eyeballs … and other points that were downright insanely funny.
His ‘toons were made to be shown as a warm up for feature films where the audiences were made up of “grown ups” and not intended for kids.
Tex created Droopy, Screwy Squirrel and a plethora of other characters and comedic techniques that influences all comedy today.
It’s VERY difficult to pick one favorite work of his – but if I really had to it would be “Little Rural Riding Hood” which by far has the kitchen sink as far a Tex Avery goes …
I have been told that he was called “Tex” because he hailed from Texas of course.
Texas has given us so many larger-than-life characters and achievers because Texas is so much larger-than-life in itself.
